already reported amounting to $3,675 for raising one Police Launch and one Pinnace, for floating another Launch and for hire of Launches for Police purposes during the days immediately following the typhoon; certain other expenses have been incurred including the cost ($540) of replacing 3 boats at outstations. A vote for $5,000 to cover these and the previously reported payments was taken at the Meeting of the Legislative Council held on the 11th instant and was reported in my Despatch No. 252 dated 15th October. The question of replacing the two lost Pinnaces has still to be dealt with.

The Floating Fire Engine has been raised and beached. The boiler and other machinery have been taken out and are under repair and the hull is waiting till a slip can be hired for her repair.

The Admiralty have ordered the sale where she lies of His Majesty's Ship "Phoenix". Repairs to others of His Majesty's Ships that were injured have been or are being carried out.

The Torpedo Boat Destroyer "Fronde" has not been refloated but it is still expected that it will be found possible to get her off in a repairable condition.
